Texture and Color

On February 6, 2012, in Life in General, by Bob Borson

I took a weekend trip to Southeast Oklahoma to Broken Bow Lake and Beaver Bend State Park to recharge my batteries a bit and change my surroundings just a bit. I am a city boy and didn’t grow up hiking and and fishing -

The sounds

The textures

The colors

The … well, everything.

Coming to a place like this is sooooo different for me that I can’t describe it very well so I thought I would let some photos I took do my talking for me:

I hope you have a great week, thanks.

Very nice shots, but the real question is did your daughter enjoy it & are you looking forward to doing it again. I hope you all had a blast & here’s to a great week

You can almost smell the forest!  I love these and they made my heart at peace this morning…thank you.  This country bumpkin needed that.

very interesting stuff we actually teach a CEU on color in design currently.

  • Rachel

    thanks…that recharged my batteries too!

    Hi Sean,

She did enjoy herself but since we didn’t actually catch any fish, she didn’t particularly care for that part! The exploring was great – we all loved that.

    Cheers,

I mentioned to my wife that there are people all over this country that get to see this sort of thing every day – but they don’t live in Dallas!

    Thanks Amy

I’m sure you find a lot of people interested in color theory and design. It’s a challenging topic that eludes most people – particularly so for architects :)

Thanks for taking time to say so!

I lived in the country for years and it’s cool to take a walk in the forest. And not a brisk walk either. It may even include a half hour of just sitting on a log……..listening. And it’s really cool to do this when it’s snowing, the kind with big flakes just drifting down through the trees.

I often use photographs for colour inspiration. These are great! Nothing like a getaway to recharge the batteries. Can’t wait for my own vacation next month!

That is some nice talking you did. If a picture is worth a thousand words…you really  outdid yourself.  Such different colors and textures we find here in the Northwest. You can see so deep into the woods there. literally.

I really love the contrast of textures and colors in the 7th to last photo.  Did you take these with your iPhone camera?

  • http://www.lifeofanarchitect.com Bob Borson

    Marie-

Thanks, it’s about half and half iPhone and regular camera. Photos 2, 3, 8, and 12 were taken with my iPhone.

    Cheers,
    Bob
