We decided that we wanted donuts this morning. Ryan offered to go pick some up but there was a request to get an old fashioned cake donut – which Ryan had never heard of before. As we all launched in trying to describe the appearance of a cake donut, it was clear based on the look on Ryan’s face that we weren’t doing a very good job. To remedy that problem, I reached for my roll of trace and said:


 

“Here, I’ll draw you a cross-section so you can see the difference in density between a plain donut and an old fashioned “cake” donut …“

Ryan said back to me

“Or … we could simply look one up on the internet.“

.

Yes, I suppose we could do that.
