Make a Video? Why not…

September 5, 2010 by Bob Borson 10 Comments

You might be surprised to learn that I have received countless comments on making blog videos. The idea sounds terrible for many reasons, the least of which includes I don’t like the sound of my own voice. Yes, I know the easy joke to make here is on how much I actually do love the sound of my own voice.

Fine, I’ll concede that I like to “communicate” more than others but that would make me better suited for radio – I do not have a face for TV (not even cable access) so why would I want to do a video blog?

Why not?

That has pretty much been my motivation for this entire website. While I might not climb a mountain because it was there, I will watch a TV because it’s on. Does that make sense? (probably not). At any rate, I decide I would try making a video to see how it would work. I simply used the software that was already on my computer and used the webcam to shot the entire thing. Maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised but it … was … terrible. I was hoping that I could clean things up and make myself sound and look better – it didn’t happen.

The good news is that I think it might be fun to learn how to make better videos, something that anyone who sticks around to see the next one will appreciate. For the time being, here is my first video:
